64 … 8 by 8
neatly drawn
black.white.black.white.black.white.black.white
white.black.white.black.white.black.white.black
black.white.black.white.black.white.black.white
white.black.white.black.white.black.white.black
black.white.black.white.black.white.black.white
white.black.white.black.white.black.white.black
black.white.black.white.black.white.black.white
white.black.white.black.white.black.white.black
drawn neatly
8 by 8 … 64

life is well charted
like countless moves
of pawns, a step at a time
of mighty rooks, and cunning knights,
of crosses and knots
haves and nots

mirror, mirror,
who is the cleverest of them all
who is the most beautiful
who is the most powerful
is it me?

and the mirror crashes
as if ashamed at the questions
or angry at being nagged
and the glass hits the face
and drops of red travel
in vertical motion
almost effortless

64 … 8 by 8
neatly spread
red.white.red.white.red.white.red.white
white.red.white.red.white.red.white.red
red.white.red.white.red.white.red.white
white.red.white.red.white.red.white.red
red.white.red.white.red.white.red.white
white.red.white.red.white.red.white.red
red.white.red.white.red.white.red.white
spread neatly
8 by 8 … 64

only the colours change
like chameleons
like seasons
but underneath it is all the same
just part of a game
biped hunting the lame
finding someone to blame
excuses and apologies

64 … 8 by 8
drawn neatly
probably the average span of life
for humans in this world
neatly drawn
8 by 8 … 64

8 steps of 8
then retire...

Very well written these analogies.  As to theme, yep, life can be a game at times so I look at it as it's all in how the game is played.  Well done Sudhir, good to see your words again.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

just part of a game
biped hunting the lame

BRAVO!!! Oh Sudhir, this is excellent and so very true, sweet friend, life is indeed like a game, and symmetrical as we are to the laws of the game, we must pace ourselves and understand the rules before we proceed and blame not but accept! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sudhir, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sudhir,
