Mmm, Skittles...

Okay, so I just got off of work and am dead-tired but at that point where you can't sleep (and yes, it *is* first thing in the morning. I'm apparently so goth, I can't work during the daylights hours :P). I decided to come back to this oh-so-addictive place and share some of my past angst.

It's not going into Dark (though I do have poems in Dark! Or a certain rodent moderator man may get a bit snitty with me ), because it's not. Dark, I mean. Just ... more or less bitter.

Notice the title, all three words smushed t'gether like that. I consider it *now* to be something to aspire towards! But when rednecks are throwing beer bottles at you and you're only 16... It's a different story.

The poem:

Scorned and forgotten.

Broken

but never bruised. She

keeps on striving, keeps

on living. She will

not be erased.

Image is

only image, but

the mind is obsolete. Let

her drift in

herself, regret

forming inspiration that fades.

Unread.

Unknown.

Believe in life and share

it with her. Hold faith

in future and

show it to her.

In this spark

of unashamed hope is

the light that will keep

her alive.

Individuality

is the enemy. Personality shows

through in this image; this

shame. She has been

cold

under the hot summer wind

as the rednecks in their

pick-up truck hoot and holler,

throw a beer bottle and yell:

“Are ya’ tryin’ ta’ be a

vampireslutgirl?”

The word is one, because intonation

is lost on her.

They could mean anything.

It’s an attack, burning every way.

She has been angry in the mid-winter

school halls

as peers without a clue say that

Halloween is over.

She tells them everyday

is Halloween. No one gets the reference;

she just walks away.

She has not yet been

offered that spark of hope;

wandering

lost amongst friends and enemies.

The world is destructive and

destruction is blind, but people

can siphon it.

Direct it.

Kill her.

Maybe

it would be best

to stay this way.

With a single spark of

unashamed hope, she

could burn the whole world down.

BTW, Everyday is Halloween is Ministry's goth anthem (which is weird, considering Ministry is industrial).

So.

Mmm, Skittles...

I can relate--being wiccan, the neighbors gave me a hard time about it--for awhile. I decided if they wanted a witch? I'd give em a witch. I wore my black pointed costume hat to retrieve the mail daily. I invited "the girls" over in full ceremonial dress...at least once a week. And Halloween? smiling, I set up a full altar on the front lawn--they were, and remain fascinated. Now I'm invited to their outdoor cook-outs, kid's birthday parties, and to have a drink at the local pub. And now? Circumstances dictate that I must be moving. Tsk...I suppose it's okay, as I was in clear danger of becoming NORMAL.

GAWD I'M GLAD YER HERE.

Love your poetry.

Yep, one can find strength in those words.  This is a very well written piece, enjoyed your thoughts.

This morbid rodent approves! And y' forgot to mention somethin' -- along all that old bitterness is a great sense of humor. At least I think so ...

She said burn ... together.

Expressed in perfect volume. Enjoyed the wit and extremely non-vampireslutgirlish wisdom.
More folks should drink it in! ThisDiamond
