Legends Upon The Whispering Winds

The mists of yesterday rise upon the mountains
of once upon a time when the ancients walked
throughout the realms of the distant past.

Proud was the heritage of those who dwelled
amongst the beauty of that which was
created by the makers hand.

Life was lived in serene simplicity
when the Earth Mother provided all that was needed
for existance upon her fruitful lands.

Joyous were the celebrations of a life
that had yet been untouched by
the clenching fists of mankind.

Waterfalls of mellow beauty flowed
in abundance into the mountains
and valleys of forever more.

Tranquility unfolded in nights of star lit wonder
where camp fires burned on the dawning horizons
of future journeys yet unseen.

Great were the stories that were carved in the memories
of elders with wisdom abounding being passed
from generation to generation with pride.

Edlers spoke in the stillness of the night
disturbed only by the occassional crackling
within the fires that burned of eternity.

The white wolf spirit listened with respect
from yon mountain side, with understanding
that he has grown in wisdom  with his native brothers.

Luna peeks from amongst the pines hidden in silver glow
as the white wolf spirit howls his presence
into the skies of the night.

~Those days of old have long since passed~

The past has slowly diminshed as it has been
dealt with harshly by the cruel hand of mankind,
yet
    still,
the mists gather,
  Luna eternally shines,
the mountains listen,
          and the heart that seeks

can still hear the white wolf howling
breaking through the silence of eternity
as he calls to the brotherhood of spirits
uniting   they gather   once again~

~Their legends can still be heard
upon the whispering winds~

Nancy, those words mean so much to me. I have learned so much by being a part of passions, and appreciate all that I have learned about writing here, along with many other life lessons.   My own daughters heritage is that of the Cherokee, (thus the name Cherokee Child)and we all can only pray forgiveness for the atrocities against those who have went before, and hope that somewhere in time we will all not just learn of them, but that we will learn the lessons that should have been learned ages ago.  thanks much my friend, your support keeps me wanting to write this way.  Hugs.

~Loner, thanks so much for the kind words.  I appreciate you taking the time to read.

*********CLAPPING WILDLY!*********

BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! OH DONNA, THIS TOUCHED ME SO DEEPLY, I LOVE IT!!! Having a large part of my ancestory being of Cherokee blood, I can relate to this so very much and it saddens me so very much to see savage capitalists and governments trod upon my familys land and compress their space and try and attack their values, yet I applaud them for holding firm to what they believe in without being violent and how the stories and tales are something that still has never passed in time! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, now I am crying in tears, I am adding this to my library now because this is a true instant classic, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upo you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Donna-(da-na)-
and for the little one "Cherokee Child" - ayoli vhnai hia tsalagi (meaning Child/young of the Cherokee)
Osiyo (hello),

First let's state the obvious ... The "Title" catching has now officially reversed itself and I am the one caught by the title.  Secondly, you already knew that I would make sure to see this one didn't you?

Now, as to the write ... well, I am pleased beyond description to be here and read such a well written piece regardless of the subject.  Your writing has grown much since my travels took me away and it goes to show you just how much a person can learn (no matter how good they are coming in ) just from being in Passions.  Your knowledge in certain areas of this write show that not only have you read and studied, but you show much understanding and that is a VERY COOL THING in my book.  Well written and very much enjoyed.  Thank you.

CC, little one...

Paul, I am so pleased that my simple offering of words
leave you with meaning.  I thank you for that.

Kethry, thank you so much.  So many truths
have been hidden and the more they are known,
the more we can understand.  Hugs.

Noah, an instant classic.....oh you are way to good to me.
I thank you.  Although I am not part native American, my daughter
has this blood in her.  I see it in her spirit.....Thank you.

Osiyo Mark,  and thank you for teaching me the name that April has chosen for passions.
Well no.....I didn't really know that you would make sure
to see this, but sure am glad you took the time.

What a wonderful compliment that is, thank you.
I believe Passions is a wonderful place, and the key
word here is GROWING.  There is still so much to learn.
I try to do it every day.....lol.    As to the subject, there is still so much for me to learn
there also.  Even from my highschool days, almost every paper I ever had
to do was on either this theme, or on any theme to do with nature.  I have learned some
through the years, yet know that there is so much more.
I do think I have a better understanding now than before.
My daughters father was descendant from the Cherokee...
lol.....even looks it too...so again, I have learned.  There is
so much to learn even still.  Thank you for your gracious reply,
as always it is so much appreciated.

Janet, geez, thank you.  It was first that I saw Maija through one
of your poems, so I thank you for sharing that gift with us all.
It pleases me that the cowboy thought this piece worthy.    And aren't some of those pics just awesome.....   sigh.....
The messages are just kinda what I hear when I am alone with nature,
and God do I love being alone with nature!!
he he.....thanks for liking the pic to, Lord knows I bugged enough of
people to help me figure it out.  Hugs and peace to you sweet
