Night Window

What is the night outside your window’s sigh?
Perhaps a lamppost star drizzles a light line there
encased in coat of gray in day, now makes a halo
at each corner and whispers direction to morning birdsong.

Or, a cricket rustles in the leaves  a song to you
all drenched in sleep,  behind your eyes you hear it
as a lullaby, fenced in to yard a nighttime friend
keeping watch for silence it will not let in.

You fold the moon within your lips
and blow out stars with every breath
and in that deep sound of a dream they dance
around the window screen .

Your sheets are warm with length of leg
as hand grips air then opens flat on pillow,
grace is caught within the curve so sweet at rest
I see it find a place of colored memory
where each finger trembles into touch of secret place.

The train is a friend of air in dark romance
where snuggles warm a seat for two by window
watching small lights whiz fast like firefly
lit like summer dance in back yard’s song.

From the curve of night tides turn,
the waves break keeps time with a promise,
for in the night just before first light
you hear it tell you with moon glow
things you always wanted to know.

The night cannot explain to day
the way its canopy like a treasure chest
holds the key to secrets
that in the dark the heart begets.

A breathtaking poem Martie! Wow...

I especially loved this:
quote:
You fold the moon within your lips
and blow out stars with every breath
and in that deep sound of a dream they dance
around the window screen .

Splendid images and metaphors!

I dont know which is more impressive...the imagery of this write...of the depth of the emotions that inspired it...
I have said many many times...seeing things thru the window of your eyes offers clarity I seldom ever have in my own view...
few people ever know the contentment that I read in that 4th verse

Martie
This is wonderful writing beginning to end...

"You fold the moon within your lips
and blow out stars with every breath
and in that deep sound of a dream they dance
                 around the window screen .

Your sheets are warm with length of leg
as hand grips air then opens flat on pillow,
grace is caught within the curve so sweet at rest
I see it find a place of colored memory
where each finger trembles into touch of secret place.

The train is a friend of air in dark romance
where snuggles warm a seat for two by window
watching small lights whiz fast like firefly
lit like summer dance in back yard’s song.

the waves break keeps time with a promise,
for in the night just before first light
you hear it tell you with moon glow
things you always wanted to know.''

That's poetry!

I see no mention of the mating cat howls or the fighting neighbors? *S* Your neighborhood must be better than mine. *S* I know for sure your vision is... Can I be in line after Marge??? I'll take the headache as long as I can take aspirin? *S* This is wonderful, Martie... a movie unfolds before my eyes as I read your words... and it's always rated E for excellent! *S*

Between wisps of window sash come the torent of shadows wishing to steal the colors of our rainbow, but with the grasp of each diamond breeze, comes the palette of harmony if only we would pick up the brush.

I have missed your poetry so ... but you of all people know that I have had a little "WINGED" friend ( scorched maybe, but still has the wings) LOL , that has kept me nurished with your works in my travels.

Beautiful write as always and much much to see and learn in your words.  Loved it and you as well my friend.
