Summers Shadow

I woke to find myself to a quiet semi-darkened room
The night's just given birth to the dawn
I caught a glimpse of glory for a second here
A lifetime wonder that summer brought along...

For, summers shadow just danced on my window
While sunlight changed shades before my eyes
Lack of words stole any room left to find
My amazement to this breeze that went by...

There was a hint of something a tint of nothing
But, still so much that rests on my window pane
A little peace and a little sorrow both touched my heart
For, never can those winds blow exactly the same...

Summers shadow brought reasons and other seasons at hand
Those green leaves would soon be gone
Browns will fill the eyes when I wake misty-eyed
I'll be in summers shadow still waiting for the sun...

For, with the leaves will soar all I've been waking for
Her gentle self like the summer's left me with
It's shadow of a moment that graced me awhile
And, from both, a feeling I can never forget...

Shall I ask that summer never go with the winds
I don't want to know winter the way I have again
May the breeze always lend it's wings to find her
For, she'll always reside in the shadow of summer...

Is this about the death of a child? That's how I read it. Whether actual death, or a passing from childhood to adulthood ... I really felt this piece, and love the calm, sad feeling of your summer shadows.

Strong agreement here, with Mr.Squirrel...
It must be a rodent thing...

This is such an emotive piece, Saunni...and lovely picture also...

Don't you wish that you could just capture life's best moments and re-live them when you needed them?
