This poem was written in loving memory of my dad, who passed away in 1988, my first husband who died in 1999 and my son, Eric, who died in 2000.

~Memories Lit By Loving Spark~

Through photographs, they smile so real
I know they still exist somewhere
their timeless lives hold memories sealed
with secret knowledge borne unshared

I can see them now, these three
cheering for the New York Yanks
while watching baseball on T.V.
enjoying beer commercial pranks

Do they watch me from this unknown place
grieving for the life we shared?
As they laugh about my lack of grace
can their spirits sense I'm scared?

They guide me gently through the dark
their love and laughter still sincere
In memories lit by loving spark
I feel their cherished presence near

In warp of time, their souls exist
through haze of esoteric mist
~

Lyra

I love photo albums...I'm sure they watch you with the same love and laughter that you shared when they were on this earth.

Oh Lyra - This is such a tribute to them. It is beautiful and your writing must make them so proud.

'...They guide me gently through the dark
their love and laughter still sincere
In memories lit by loving spark
I feel their cherished presence near...'

I know they are with you, watching over you and protecting you. It is so sad that they are gone, but with my all heart I believe they are together and I hope that brings you comfort.

You are such a dear and sweet person and I am so honored to call you friend.
Hugs, Marti

Lyra darling heart and keeper of the dawns glory this is stunningly well written the way it flows from beginning to end is beautiful. That you write exceedingly well everyone acknowledges, when you write and you incorporate the starlight’s shimmer you positively shine with wonder.

It is no secret that I adore your writing, some may think that I am a little too enthusiastic sometimes, but even they must realise that this is worthy of as much praise as I could heap on it.  Light that flows with the liquidity of crystal streams of water, words that caress the soul with beauty, and phrasing and meter that puts masters of the art to shame, this is stunning and I love it utterly utterly utterly

A beautiful tribute to beautiful soul that caressed a beautiful heart, this is truly superb writing

Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Lyra, once again, you've touched my heart.  A poem of beautiful and everlasting remembrance.  Awesome are these two lines especially:

"their timeless lives hold memories sealed
with secret knowledge borne unshared"

Thank you for sharing with us your heart songs through your precious poetry, we all love to read your words and learn from your wisdom.

marie

Keep counting your blessings

Lyra,
Such a wonderful tribute.
It reminds me of a country song I am fond of
" Holes In The Floor of Heaven"
If you haven't heard it and get a chance to listen to it, I hope you do. Artist Steve Warner

Thanks so much, Martie...
I really do feel my first husband's presence all the time, and whenever we go to Ann Arbor for my treatments, I can feel Eric's presence, probably because he went to school there...and my Dad...whenever I hear the sound of a baseball game on TV...I can just see him sitting there and cheering.
I'm glad you enjoyed the photos and the poem.
