leaves are friends
when they float to the ground
riding the breeze
whispering quietly
their solace
in rustle stories

they talk to my feet
as I walk
and make soft damp music
from old tree concerts
strumming the leather
of earth and soul

when I lay down to rest
beside the stream
they are my friendly blankets
like when I was a child
they console me
with their sooth sides

and under now
as I feed the worms
and roots their nutrients
my friends the leaves
join me in harmony
of soundless decay

It IS a circle...
and we should learn better to always
be at one with our surroundings...

Excellent!

the neverending circle of
life.
well written Dark.  Even in death
there is light.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

OH yeah...there's a nice little path I know...past an old pool, overgrown with palmetto...tis lovely, the way the patterns play there...

funny, I know this place, and I have never brought another being there...I just go there to fish for bass. And? I always let 'em go, too...

But for such of wind and rain
the sound remains the same
yet whispers quite differently
to those that step with love

Inspiring stuff there Mr. Dark..regardless of its cycle of depth..you are exquisite.

Sincerely,
Reg

DS

I would fly,
dangle my feet in oceans of air,
back stroke above the street,
my hair like black rain
if I were not dirt bound,
my nails filled and pungent with earth,
each breath a memory that holds me.

I loved your poem!

Dark,
you are one with the earth and how naturally this poem flows.

(smiles) Oh my gosh, this made me smile so much reading this because it reminded me of going outside in the autumn and playing around in the pile of leaves on the ground! (big hugggssssss) This is sooooo beautifully and naturally uplifting, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
