I want to build
a come to me place
far into these hills
where the days are shorter
but long on scented moons

We can hide deep
in liquid slumber
and watch the sun fingers
comb through mountain air
and tumble naked grass
sweet, still and cricket legged

We can listen to the drip
of bleeding hearts
while I vine round your ways
and take forever to bloom
real slow and easy
learning which side
feels best when sun lights

You could toss me white
on crisp cotton splendor
turnin’ damp well before dew time
and when those glow bugs
sparkle up in twilight
we could pretend the sky was falling
and run through bare breezes
waving hello darlin’ in the dark
bumpin’ into me knees on purpose

I wanna fall there, again
when we are vulnerable,
alone and have to like it
because it’s too damn far to walk away
Where the only music is love tunes
cranking from swoon times
on the outside
and wild stuff behind the doors

Where splinters feel earned
and clouds are closer
than they’ve ever been
and sin is just a man word
all dressed up for church
and we have our own
private
revival

Love the way you write this, Regina. It's done with class and you slip in wannas and country flavor in just the right places to give it that country-fresh touch. I wouldn't know if you were a New York scholar or a Carolina hill girl by reading it...perhaps a touch of both

I am In Awe!!! I so loved this absolute work of art!!! You painted such a crisp picture of this place and the mood that I could taste the air and feel the wood of a cabin porch beneath my feet.  I am going to put this in my library where I can enjoy it again and again..... What a beautiful feeling of innocence and natural gifts you created here.

Love, Light and Peace,

Sherry

Reg,
Well...just smokin'. You sure it's knees? I was already a country boy at heart. But I've never experienced country like this! What part of the country is that? I'm ready to move...

Regina

Filled with love and playful tenderness, sweetened with passion and colored with just the right imagery to make it a big want place.  Very much enjoyed reading this.

I like this place, Reg...a private revival...I think all revivals should be private.

Excellent work.
