tribute to a fine actress and person

"Your dog bit me", bicycled lady cried
showed a court order...Aunt Em despised
she was the one who owned half the county
from Aunt Em's farm she'd seek a bounty..

would the Kansas girl hand over her dog
risk getting punished or even flogged,
wouldn't hand over the dog, she protested
her aunt knew their freedom was molested..

the bicycled lady raced to the farm to complain
did she know she'd later she'd become a black-cloaked dame?
all this happened just before a tornado struck
country girl chaced Toto in the wind...foul luck.

freckled lass said she would soon bite
if this lady didn't leave her sight
Gulch was earth's parallel to a witch
she'd sooner ruin lives in a stitch
of time..

I actually thought she was maligned. I'd be angry about the dog, too. Though I wouldn't go that far.

Hey Nan,

took me years to see how the director craftily incorporated our heroine's relatives
into her dream..including Mrs Gulch

I think I actually played this role in a drama put on by the kids at my summer camp...
It was probably in 1955 or 56 or therabouts...
the woman who ran the dramatics stuff was looking for an evil looking little girl...
so I got the part.
