In the freeze

Just learned to swim
and she’s seeking out sharks
end of day
buying yay
in the same childhood parks
where she used to run home from before it got dark
and her once sheltered eyes
see the truth behind lies
that the world was a place where beneath light blue skies
everyone played in fields of the truest dark green
moms and dads strolling by with their kids in between
but tonight’s sky is black as she looks up for signs
that there still may be words to read between the lines
of the snow that keeps pilling up higher and higher
until she cant move closer to the camp fire
her family has lit in hopes she would come home
from the life in the cold of those who live alone
but there never are signs when you look to the sky
so she turns to the drugs that let pain pass her by
for a couple of hours her mind is at ease
cause the numbing is all you have left in the freeze

I know this happens in life..boy is this sad though. VERY well done Kevin.

Many kids look for a "quick" solution to their problems and become quite unlike what their parents ever dreamed of... guess it is a sad fact of life that needs more addressing
