The Real Brain Bank
By Larry Chadwick

Life masks wisdom with wrinkles and gray hair,
And leaves it sitting alone in a rocking chair.
But clever new minds reinvent what is already understood,
Just for the satisfaction of making them feel good.

Business demands bright people manage resources well,
Meanwhile, wisdom sits and rocks in a chair for a spell.
Canes, walkers and wheelchairs render wisdom an inconvenience,
While we squander one of our greatest natural resources without conscience.

We settle for a call to say how often that we think of them,
But mostly because our guilt will trouble us every now and then.
Don’t patronize the old as if they have not lived,
They are brilliant folk and have a lot to give.

Amen. *S* And what you learn from those who've lived it is far more interesting than any history book could ever be. *S* I like this very much, Larry. *S*

I have to agree with you Larry.
And I don't know why but as I was reading this I remembered something
my grandmother once told me.

"Even though I am nearly 77, I still feel like a 22 year old, only smarter"

Thank you for your thoughts today!

Larry darling boy this is excellent wisdom and truth, they are indeed our heritage and the knowledge they have locked within them is awesome. I love this, it is brilliantly written the rhyme is simply perfect and the words within are such a revelation and so true.

Wonderful writing darling boy utterly utterly wonderful writing, more give us lots more

Love and warm stuff
As always

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

Toerag,
Well now...don't you have to have something in the account to begin with? Aging beats the alternatives. Thanks.

Always. And thanks.

Now you know I am loving this one!  I am taking this over to the senior's centre to read it to them and I bet this is going to make a lot of smart people in wheelchairs smile big time!  Good one Larry.
