gray haired woman in a penney's dress,
he called her mama when a boy and mom when a man

she drives an old chevy with no caps on the wheels
called it blue after the paint faded from navy

down a street called main, over behind the tracks
by the hardware store and military surplus

she stops at a market, called watkins grocery where
the coke machine has a water fountain on the side

to buy a rose called freedom from millie or bob
behind the counter, they sell flowers too

and pays with two bills called ones that she saves
for the third of july every year since 68'

she drives down a road called peaceful, past the
church where she and her son used to sing

to stop at a park called rest haven, where the oaks
are full of blackbirds nearly year round

to visit her only son called sam, on his birthday
and leave the rose on his stone, called beloved

©Dark

(sam was one of the many boys lost in nam to keep
freedom and america alive. btw..UNDER GOD stays in
my pledge, sam earned the right for me to keep it)

DS

You touch a mother's heart with this, and a friend's tears.

(smiles) WOW!!! Oh my gosh, I love this, sweet friend, you depict everything so well like a classic Bob Dylan song or Jack Kerouac journal entry, this is marvelous writing that's nostalgic! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
