Summertime

hot days, warm nights
cool drinks, sweet sights
summertime
and the livin' is queasy
what with heat stroke,
exhaustion
and days barely breezy

bugs crawlin’
bees buzzin’
‘skeeters sippin’ for a drop o’ dna
an’ weeds burstin’ toward the sky
without battin’ an eye

nevertheless, it passes the test
for fresh air passin’
past well-screened houses
driftin’ over skunks
with an interrupted path

tater vines
baking in the sun
potato plant run-off
speakin’ to the economy
of this pastoral realm

but
what other time o’ year
can you light up the charcoal
‘nd be assured of your beauty
by the trail of its smoke

ah, yes,
summertime,
picnics, cobbed corn,
steaks on the barby,
ice cream drizzled
with berry surprise
and clear blue skies

by the way...I also posted an Independence Day poem in "Holiday Cheer," that I don't think anyone's read, or else they hated it.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I liked this...
Myself, i'm not very good at writing poem about seasons and whatnot,
but I see, you're quite talented!
