This is the first poem I've written as an adult, I am 32 years old and having some difficulties in my marriage, I hope you enjoy it.

Break Out

It is time to break the chains that bind me to my destiny
I’ve lived aloof and free, free to believe in my own complacency
Had I taken time to face the demons of social remorse
Surely I’d imagine my life would’ve taken a different course

Here I sit on a beach with a light spray of natures blessing in the air
You’d really think that I would sit here without a single care
Alas this is not the case a source of moisture in my eyes
From my aching heart and not from the skies

So I sit with best intentions to make right of my life
First important decisions will be made by my wife
I will give her a chance to find where she needs to be
Regardless of her decision, I will seek to be a new me

They say the toughest lessons in life are those learned the hard way
I have to admit, better to learn them hard than not at all I say
So how do I break the chains that bind me to my destiny?
The answer is quite simple, I avoid complacency

Thank you both very much for the warm welcome, I realize it is not ideal etiquete to have my first post be some of my poetry but I hope given the situation you all understand. I have also been moved by many of the posts here.
