AYERS ROCK, CENTRAL AUSTRALIA

THE 12 APOSTLES, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

* * * * *

I have travelled to many places
From Switzerland to Rome
But this wide brown land, Australia
Is the place that I call home

I've seen the Eiffel Tower
And walked the streets of Montmartre
But with the kangaroos and koalas
Is where I keep my heart

I've even been to London
And seen the palace of the Queen
My passport stamps are many
Reminders of places I have been

Each country is rich in history
And every journey so much fun
But I long to return to my homeland
This beautiful island in the sun

A jewel in the crown
A wondrous paradise
The scenery is simply stunning
And the people are friendly and nice

We are so proud of our nation
A young country compared to some
And of the many thousands of visitors
So many hearts has this place won

I'll pursue my love of travel
And marvel at the things I see
But I'll always return to Australia
The place I most want to be

Did anyone ever tell you that you make one heck of a travel agent?  This was beautiful and with pictures and promotion like that who wouldn't want to vist there and be proud to call it home.  Well done Sue.

Sue, the pictures and poem brought tears and smiles. I shared this with my son, the one who spent 6 months traveling through your beautiful homeland and he too got all choked up. You are so multi-talented from gardening to writing to photography. Bless you.  Hugs, Marti

Bravo, it's wonderful to see such pride!  I've never been to Austrailia, although I hope to visit someday.  A friend of mine travelled there a year ago and she loved it!  In fact, she wants to move there

You should submit this poem to a local newspaper or to a national Austrailian magazine!

Take care,
Melissa~

Sue:  I loved your poem and the pictures. I have always wanted to visit your country.  My son has spent many months there at different times and on his last trip my daughter-in-law went also.  They loved it and brought back some beautiful things. It's a fascinating country!  Thanks for sharing some of it with us.

My computer has been down for a week, so I'm now playing "catch-up".

Sue, isn't it great to so love the country you are from.  I feel the same way about the USA.  I wish all people had the opportunity to truly love the country in which they live.  We are two lucky people.  Wonderful Write Sue,
