I have been charmed from woven market caskets
followed flute cues in worlds of day rackets;
prepare for my bite; notice the hooded neck
my place in Hindu society: I am given respect.

The venom I carry is the prize of my charm
when the hood is not open, I'll do you no harm;
with the organ of Jacobsen, taste comes to mind
I size up prey as lenses determine my find.

A sense of hearing is conveyed to an inner ear,
lesser snakes and cobras are known to fear;
I can stand to the height of a full grown man
and spit in the eye, he will no longer command.

Charmed from woven baskets, at times defanged
I dance to the cues of the flutist gangs;
prepare for flight, notice the creasted neck
history of snake culture still hisses respect.

You had your day jousting with foils;
troubled spirits rest, squandered the spoils
Derobed at night,I will forever recoil
into my woven caskets,by the midnight oil.

you captured the essence of the charmed one so well.  Well done Ecrivan

Like a red brick,

somebodies brush
forgot to paint...
lonely....(as sung by Tracy Lawrence..)

Snow,

There are more in the older forums

Rose,

No need to be squeemish when they're about their business...with the exception of coral
ones that I don't care to be near myself..hehe

Sy,

Can't say though I'm completely successful making analogies to the snake in humans.
