Who’s Got My Back?
By: Noah Eaton
4/16/02

At times I feel the world stop spinning
Time and time again
I think of Rachel Levy and other bombing victims
Tears fall down my cheeks endlessly
Wishing only as conservers, liberals and radicals
We together can find peace unselfishly

So I pray to God
Will you come visit us today?
I pray to God
Let’s ask if we can stay

Who’s got my back?
Who will kiss these tears we cry?
Who’s got my back?
To help us find the grace to fly

I don’t want to be a martyr for anything but faith
Only wishing we can all believe in simple things we can all appreciate
We may not be angels, we may not be priests of any rank
But I believe we all have a common bond of love that can’t be escaped
I only wish we can stop burning bridges
And find patterns in what we believe in and have the heart to openly communicate…

So I pray to God
Will you come visit us today?
I pray to God
Let’s ask if we can stay

Who’s got my back?
Who will kiss these tears we cry?
Who’s got my back?
To help us find the grace to fly

So I pray to Him…
I pray to Him…
I pray to Him…
Will you come visit us today?

All this time I hear people cry
Children starve, intifada bombers attack in suicide
If I had just one wish I would strive
For Him to cradle all our children and show them loves light
Take my hand, I promise I’ll teach you to fly
I won’t let go, just hang on tight

Who’s got my back?
Who will kiss these tears we cry?
Who’s got my back?
To help us find the grace to fly
Who’s got my back?
We are only flesh and blood
Who’s got my back?
Remind us all how we can love…

I sometimes think "Has this world gone crazy?"  And of course the answer is "Yes...a long, long time ago."

This is absolutely lyrical, M'toe... I kept hearing music as your cries were repeated... I like this very much. *S*
