Making Good Time
By Larry Chadwick

It is quite typically a man thing,
Makes little boys hold their ding-a-ling.
We can’t stop until we need gas,
So station after station they’ll pass.

My dad use to do it to me,
And I repeated history.
They would beg to stop once more,
But my children I would ignore.

This car holds fifteen gallons of gasoline,
Twenty miles per gallon on this machine.
Three hundred miles we have to go,
You have to hold it don’t you know?

Heaven help you if you didn’t factor the wind,
And your mileage was less than you thought, my friend.
It was time that you were trying to conserve,
But you didn’t make the station around the curve.

Now you’ve learned that gasoline is cheap,
Compared to the harvest you’re about to reap.
So now I offer to stop at every station I see,
“Honey, do you or the kids need to pee?”

I'm so glad you're gracing us with your presence more often! And thanks. Just a confession.

You don't have me fooled. Most of those stops were for you.

Kacy,
Do you have to tell everything you know? You always put a smile on my face you know. I like that about you!

It's never too late to have a good childhood! Woohoo!

(giggles in delight) Oh Larry, I know just how you feel, I was always the good one on road trips about using the restroom, but I was the bad one for asking for a drink of water! (smiles) This is another delightful piece, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

suthern,
Actually, 25 years ago I began a new policy. A stop any time somebody requested. Made life much more pleasant!

Lauren,
I think you should always get your way. And hey...you can ask, I seek directions real quick. I hate wasting time! Thanks.

Noah,
Well...we all have our faults! And thanks for the ride.

Laura,
Sounds like the voice of experience. Thanks.

It's never too late to have a good childhood! Woohoo!

Pull over already!
If it were me I would tell you I don't care how many miles you're getting to the gallon, I have a need to pee....not sooner, or later, but now!!!
Listen up or you might end up cleaning it up.
Think about it, just cuz you're the driver doesn't mean you don't have to live with your decisions.

Lori,
Yup...a mess indeed. Well, I got over that system real early in my adulthood. I'll stop for hysterical markers or anything else that meets your fancy. Thanbks.

Krista,
Lots of guilty dads in that department! Thanks.

Nancy Lee,
Stop it is! Thanks for the chuckles.

It's never too late to have a good childhood! Woohoo!
