Back of hands all covered with words
antics playback in theatres of the absurd,
air musical lines on stages of the burlesque
emotions unravel when the sets go grotesque.

Is it that we live to watch our antics on stages
or our antics watch us as our lives peel pages;
neighbourly hate survives for thousands of years
public attention is peeled as we perform on piers.

How love decays,it slips behind curtains
present relates despair, the future's uncertain;
conditons molt, skin sloughs to reveal rancor
ships of fools have tossed away their anchor.

Dance off stage, hope tradition keeps?
circus clowns conduct fantastic feats;
as the world performs on stage, man dances to the burlesque
with good conduct caught in a maze, his sets go grotesque.

Martin, of course I enjoyed this very much as I do all your work, but, especially when you write about the theatrical...and indeed, is not the whole world a stage?  Enjoyed!!

Your writing is so thought provoking,
and I enjoy them so much.

This has more to do with politics than the play doesn't it?  I loved your use of meta4s.

Shakespeare said that we are all just players upon the stage of life...(or something like that)...but those who chose to aproach the stage of fantacy... the make-believe must put aside the magic that is the Play to become a part of it.....

do you believe this to be true?

Hi Sherry,

Yes this poem has more to do with our socio-political ways,
the Shakespeare verse goes more like: "the world is a stage and we are no more than actors"
I do think that that fantasy has to be set aside aside when you enter a role and become one with the character you play

Hi Blues,

I am especially turned off by the happenings in the Mid-East. It's pathetic.

Hi Nancy,

just thought that expression would be appropriate for the sad nonsense in the news

It does indeed... and unfortunately, everyone seems caught up in their own performance too much to try to understand another's. Well written look at the woe in our world.
