The Cold Eyes of the Naked Truth

This week I must stare into
the cold eyes of the naked truth
throwing aside the rose colored glasses
the denial I've worn for months
to blind stark fortune dealt

I must emerge now, from the mists of pretend
putting both feet on the ground
to come face to face with cruel of savage real
the coldness of future unmasked

I've cloaked my fear with bravado
and sugar coated the true
concealing the bitter fear
hidden deep in it's rotten core

the slime of angst has wormed it's way back
as terror gives way to panic
sounding the red alarm of danger

a cold shadow follows me now
the phantom feel of safe
has sputtered out
and I can no longer feel
the secure mantle of optimism
warming my trembling shoulders

my safety net has torn
no longer does it cushion the blow

this time, I fear
that when I tumble from the heights of hope
through the ripped seams of safety
I will finally hit bottom
with a hard thud
to stare straight
into
the cold eyes of the naked truth

Lyra,
So if we stack up our support...shoulders as platform for feet and there is enough, can we break your fall significantly enough? Let me stand firm in hope of breaking your fall. And if you fall let me help carry you on as I know even then you will be fighting and I want to strengthen your effort and resolve dear friend. Strength and courage to you and ultimately...peace!

Thank you...thank you...thank you, Larry.....
and yes.....I really could use those shoulders to support me right now.

I know I'm probably making much too big a deal of this right now, but I am really terrified....

and I thank you so much for your kind brotherly support.
~ many thankful hugs to you

I hope that you are doing okay.....
and peace be with you too!

You've captured this feeling of fear, with chilling imagery Lyra. This was an incredibly descriptive piece and one that gripped me deeply for I've known this feeling. Very well written, indeed.

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you ... and may the support of your loved ones and this poetic family lift and fill your heart with positive images.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Lyra my dearest friend YOU know my prayers are with you, I have told you that I have the strongest feeling that you will get through this, and I really do believe that.

If in the night you need a friend
If you feel as if you’ve reached the end
If you face sorrow and it calls your name
If you seem often to sing pain’s refrain
If the world looks cold and the sun dim
If your heart sees pain and fear leaks within
Whatever happens I’m here for you
I’ll be the hand that pulls you through
Lean on me when you need to
For that is what friends always do

Touch the screen Lyra darling and feel this energy and love pouring through, this will be over very soon. Take care darling heart

Loving hugs and positive energy sent to you.

I love you sister of my soul
Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire

such a powerful intense write....
words seem so small sometimes..even in a room full of poets...
you are in our thoughts and prayers and you are stronger than you know...proof of that has been documented in here many times.

Lyra, with amazing beauty you have revealed the face of terror, without masking anything.
There will be a strong net here for you to fall into, whatever the prognosis may be. Hope, Love, Compassion, Strength and Steadfastness abound within these poetic walls. I hope you can feel it.

Hope Painted Over (for Lyra)

Can you see the light behind the black?
Its painted over with strength we lack.
But there it lies, in a friend's open arms
to keep you comforted, safe from harm.

You are never alone, when love surrounds
To face a danger, when alarm bells sound
We stand together, when stories are dire
hugging you close to heart, my dear sweet Lyra.

~   ~   ~

It may take some time to develop that net of health,
but it shall return:  your spirit is indominatable.
All my best and warmest huggs,
Jeff

Loved the poem..as I do all of yours...and I extend my hand for you to hold, my back to help support your load, my shoulders for whatever need arises, and my heart, solid and true, to help get you through.  Walk easy, my friend, and as the sun rises and sets, as the moon sheds light on the night, look up...I'm smiling for you.

You know - I saw that picture and knew you were having the same fear I had felt once, but with more intensity Lyra.  I only can suport Larry's comments that when your safety net gets a hole in it, fall on us, we will be there to catch you, break your fall, and help you back on your feet again.  I can't take away the fear you feel for it is very real, but I can hope that you know you have friends that will be here to be with you through it.  ((((hugs to you sweetie))))
