If she could

If she could, she would
blame in on
diminutive girl beliefs
thinking romance
should be eternal
in womanly ways

like Katherine and Spencer
the Captain and his Tennille
George and Gracie
her mother and father

she saw
how the woman had sparked
in his walking towards

pieces puzzle-glued
for life

a constant reaffirmation
of all things
phenomenal

all she had sought from
little girl imaginings
was to give
romance

a run for its money

to convey
touches that would always
burn one man’s skin

to be such an obsession
his eyes would only
hold her
gaze

as in her mind, he
would always be 28
and fine

because of this deeper love

he would never make her cry
or be repentant
for being
herself

because of this deeper love

she went from Peter Pan
to Captain Hook

and she’s running
from the tick-tock

she is Scarlett
in the mist

still needing
in that she has so much to give

her fire burns
magnificent embers
not yet cold
ash

if she could...
she still wants to warm one man
well

Sigh,
If she could. The wistfulness in those three words defies description. Love the poem.

I know this feeling Deca.  We marry with hopes of love deep and eternal....
Much later, after the fire dies down...
longing to feel that deep sensual warm once again.  Lovely work.

As children, we DO get that impression of togetherness...Ozzie & Harriet, Lucy & Desi, Rocky & Bullwinkle....then we grow up and become Al and Peg...

so we spend nights watching reruns of I Love Lucy...and wish...and dream..

(big huggsssssss) Such powerful longing fills these words, sweet friend, it can indeed sound like reruns of a soap opera or Mary Tyler Moore with a double-meaning to the theme song "You're going to make it after all!". (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Now you know what my response is right?  When the fire goes out, get a new candle! Loved this!  How sad that some take half empty against half full.

This is so powerful that I really have no idea how to reply well.  This is excellent, and you've put into words what I could never write yet had hidden inside of me.  This is a keeper!

Take care,
Melissa~
