When does a poem fail
to heal the hearts of many
why can't life go on beautifully forever
why can't peace be found in a package
what makes hatred spread
is that too much to handle
must we always just light a candle
let it burn
let it flicker out
without questioning its purity
whats in a poem
that makes a person slip away
death itself just scares us away
a tranquil poem softens the heart
but when a poem fails to soften
what happens to the heart
does your soul disappear
to all eternity
before your body leaves its world behind
is nothingness solitude
when a poem fails
does the heart fail too
or is it just imaginary
suttle and unspeakable
A poem can never fail
just the image
doesn't quite sink in
the brain just doesn't comprehend
so it flat out
just isn't understood
believe it or not
my theory isn't absurd

Listening to every heart

A good question,
one that every poet ponders
even when we think
I cannot be a poet,
just because I don't put
to words my thoughts,
although I see
with my heart,
my shy binds,
I cannot
speak...

The first moment we think
we could not be a poet
is the first moment
the attempt should
be made...

thank you for this pondering
poem...surely it will start
everyone thinking...

I love the way you put these age old thoughts into words, Kellie...

I think all poets wonder if the reader can actually understand what we are trying to say with imagery.

And I don't think any one of us really knows the answer because we all interpret images through unique neural connections that no one else but we, ourselves have.

Great thoughts and quesions here...
thanks for sharing.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kellie, I believe a poem can never fail, its just that someties people who read it do not understand the message right away and then it takes time for them to finally be touched! (sigh) This is powerful, sweet frriend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kellie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Thank You. I think that poetry is a positive that sets the negative in its place.
