Listening to every heart

~*~

In cool May morn light
Unfolds in stunning array
Peace, she comes today

~*~

To commemorate the end of World War II,
Conrad Pyle christened this the
“Peace Rose.”
The rose, introduced formally the day
Berlin fell on April 29, 1945, is a
shining example of the ability of
humans to persevere even in the
worst of circumstances and a signal
of the beginning of a new era,
for to plant Peace in one’s garden
is to plant a legacy of remembrance
and history.

"The Peace Rose" is an English classic,
delicately colored with a gorgeous
fragrance. Even the thorns add a
special character to the rose,
serving as a sharp reminder to
fingers that pick without considering
the consequences.

Karilea, this is a beautiful memorium.
I grow Peace roses in my garden...
I didn't know the history on them until now.
Lovely....thank you.

Thank you. I had a Peace rose bush in my California garden. It grew well next to my French lavendar and what I called my Happy Honeysuckle.
The fragrances were all distinctive, and yet all rested gently side-by-side. Peacefully.
Is there a lesson in there maybe?

Millions died that one might live
Millions tried that all might have
Millions gave their heart for us
And billions have been gifted with

Freedom!

Thank You Karilea for dedicating this
poem to those that gave...
