Your face is my bright morning,
Your smile my breaking dawn.
I don’t know how to keep you,
But I’m praying to be shown.

I don’t want to lose you
But what words can I say?
I’m afraid I’ll sound too needy,
But please don’t drift away.

Your laughter sparks my longing,
You are grace personified.
How could someone so perfect
Spend a lifetime by my side?

The thought that I could lose you
Never once occurred to me.
If you go then take me with you,
If not, then you can’t leave.

Your hair is frosted moonglow
Agleam in summer shine.
The years have touched you lightly-
You’ve aged like finest wine.

I’m afraid to lose you-
There are no words to say.
If you insist on leaving,
Don’t think that I can stay.

Your pain just goes on growing,
And sorrow stabs my heart.
We’re meant to be together,
Must God tear us apart?

I never knew I’d lose you;
I thought love guaranteed
That you and I were always-
We defined eternity.

Oh, thanks Noah. But this isn't about me. I'm all alone and happy that way. This is a bit about my parents, my dad passed away a year ago last March. And about some others I've known. In fact, several older couples I've known. When one passes away, it's like the other one is lost, and hurries after. I usually write in the first person, so I know it's confusing.

Nan hi there, again your writing is so very very good. The style and the flow are as always perfect. Mum got here before me I see She’s had me working my fingers off here, and she’s sat there looking at me. Actually she’s been working too but don’t tell her I admitted that This as always is really great writing I love it, you are the most entertaining writer you know, and always manage to make me react to your wonderful poems. Which is the mark of an excellent writer

I’m looking forward to meeting you in September, your writing is simply amazing.

Very enduring.  I know what you mean, its almost like two people are there for each other, and only live for that reason, without one another the one left behind finds it difficult to go on. Sad and romantic at the same time.

This is beautiful and so well expressed, Nan.
I knew it was about dying because as I was reading it...it brought back the feelings I had when my first husband was dying...
I really wanted to go with him.  Losing him was so hard.  My kids thought I was crazy because I didn't want to bury him...I kept wanting to bring him home from the funeral home and just keep him with me.
But, I'm glad I didn't go with him now...and I also understand why I couldn't just bring him home.  I think grief makes us terribly irrational.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

~ loving hugs

Thanks, guys, I thought nobody saw this one at all, or I did a bad job of writing it. This makes me feel better.

Nan,
You doing a bad job of writing? Yeah...right, not!

Wow...you know how much this also means to me without even saying. A real keeper. Thanks Nan so very much.

Larry,
Thanks for your reply. I thought I might have laid it on too thick. I usually try to be restrained in the emotion department, but this was how I thought it should be written so I went all out. I'm proud that so many people seem to think I did it right after all.
