I hear shallow breathing quicken in fright,
You fear shadow’s depth that’s walking the night,
I sense the throbbing of full veins flowing
And gaze into your eyes where fear’s showing.

My soft movement sends you blindly running,
Imagined pains from your mind is coming,
Clouding all with overwhelming panic,
Growing nausea makes you fall down sick.

Retching in the shadows flows self torment,
The morning sun finds you completely spent,
I watch from my safe lingering shadows
In the light you think no one now follows.

Remember night is just hours away,
And I’ll return when you finish the day.
