may I be allowed to wallow today?

for once,
will you just let me wade around here in the deep end
without throwing me a damn life preserver?
I just want to play around here in the darkness
and have a drink with my alter-ego Depression
(we get to go out so infrequently these days)
singing the old songs that we know and love so much
want to join us?
great, pull up a chair, sit down and shut up
unless you're going to join in, and if you are, don't change the words
(we've worked so hard to get them down just right)

today
spare me your freeze-dried platitudes
and your just-add-water homilies about how everything's
going to be alright and how much better things will be tomorrow
because you know what?
there isn't a tomorrow, it's just today played over again at a
              different speed, a 45 instead of a 33 1/3
(wonder what that extra 1/3 was for?)

don't weep for me
       don't cry for me
don't care for me (at least not for today)
just let me be, let me stay here for today
because it's damn tiring to be so disgustingly happy all the time
understand that it's not you (I know that you can't)
it's me (I get this way sometimes)

tomorrow, I'll be better (I promise)

today, just let me wallow. . .

NEVAH! NEVAH! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WALLOW!!
and if I pull up my chair I can assure you I won't "shut up" so you'd better watch those invitations you give out so openly to "sit down"

truly liked this!
GET EM, SVEN PEN BABY! err..Sven Pen

I can just see the smacks I'm gonna get for that one..

Can I give this to someone significant who can't understand I need this sort of thing sometimes too?

How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so.

Nothin' like a good sulk every now and again. Really enjoyed/appreciated. Especially your comment about the 33 1/3...

Everyone should be allowed to wallow in their own dark chamber once in a while. That's life!  Now there's a cliche for you Sven.
Hey I think the extra 1/3 is part of the retail mark-up....you know 33 1/3 ????
JMHO all the same.

Good one Sven!   No you can't borrow my extra sharp Swiss Army knife!!

Now thats a philosophical question, Sven!

It sounds like you have PMS today...
I hope you feel better tomorrow when things start flowing right again.

Sven...you can sit there and wallow all you want!
BUT...I'm going to pull up a chair and sit right in front of you, shut up,
and just stare at you!!
We'll see how long you can go before you smile!

Sven,
A pity party with a conditional invitation. I call that good planning! And since it's your party...well you know the rest.

Exactly!  Wallow away m'friend, I understand and occasionally allow myself to do the same.
And it's never just a poem when it comes from you, your words are always moving and relatable

Take care,

Hey there Sven, nice one hon. Sometimes we all need to hear these kind of words.
Why is it when you have a crappy day or two or three everyone questions "whats up her
#&%$" just because usually I am happy. We're all aloud to be depressed every now and again ....now you just go WALLOW!!!!

Sven,
If we didn't wallow we wouldn't know the difference. Well done, enjoyed.

Tier, thank you my sister, I know that you do. . .

Temptress, I know that you won't shut up. . . perhaps I should take back that chair. . . . . . and yes, you may give this to that someone, and I hope that I can help them to understand. . .

Sunshine, perhaps it is my friend. . . thank you. . .

bsquirrel, indeed, there's nothing better than this. . . I always feel better afterword. . . and thanks for the comment about 33 1/3. . . just came out of nowhere. . .

ethome, don't worry my friend, I won't be needing that knife any time soon. . . but, I'll agree with you about that extra 1/3!!  thanks. . .

Magnus, love your comparison my friend. . . and yes, in the end, it's the same isn't it??  thank you Sir. . .

Lyra, if I didn't know better, I'd swear that my feminine side was having a field day with me. . .   but, yes, today is better. . . and thank you for those hugs. . . always welcome. . .

deVine, thanks for the permission. . .

Enchantress, I'm glad that it's not the old Sharon Stone trick. . . you might have me running away in horror!!!  LOL  thank you so much. . . and I'm still thinking about getting rid of that chair. . .

Larry, yes, it's my party and. . . well. . . you know. . . LOL. . . thanks for coming. . .

Melissa, I always wonder when people tell me that they can relate to my words. . . why?  because there are times where I wouldn't wish these feelings on my worst enemy. . . but, I know that each of us is different, and if I can help someone out, that makes it all worthwhile. . . thanks . . .

James, thanks. . .

tracie, yes, I wonder the same thing. . . it's like we're not allowed to feel bad. . . who made up that rule??     thank you as always my friend. . .

passing shadows, there's more people like us out there than you think. . . thanks. . .

Sy, you hit the nail on the head Sir. . . thank you for reading. . .
