forest breathe untainted air by city musk
while embers of spring leaves lighten the gathering dusk
the seasons here are as unsuspecting spirits hiding
o'er the easement it may be fair but over here it’s crying
plotting and conspiring behind the shed or barn
making some sort a devious plan in our back yard
taut, we listened for zephyr’s salient westward signal
no matter the time of dusk the emotions never dismal
in a bliss of fear, suspense and anticipation we waited
listening—ever listening, we knew the wind was jaded
stars had begun to glitter in the long evens horizon
frogs sounded like a bass fiddle section tightening
bows across the ravines shallow aqua theater
when all at once the conductor soaked the weather
pouring liquid music into the audience of pines
while a slow freight train whistled down the line
and our lonely dog hollowed as if with care
drinking in great draughts of the nights moist air
never understanding the delicious anxious peril
while it dimmed in the distance and we
calmed our shuddering wondering of tomorrow

I guess I could have been seven

Writing isn't just something I do, it's something I am.
To write of feelings that touch all hearts in some manner is my delight.

Hi Dale
At seven you couldn't have made such delicious rhyme, or could you?  What a beautiful poem!  Good to see you, my friend!

Just makes me want to visit Alberta more. (and I am, at the end of this month!) Nice shuddering storm there.

Hi Martie,
it's always good to hear you too. Been terribly busy. Spring you know. Dear ate
all Rosemary's (80 some) tulips. Thanks again.

bsquirrel,
thanks, but I'm not in Alberta anymore. I
guess I should change that to Idaho's pan-handle.

GR8 write.
I'd love to have you write something about Lake Louise and the Chatteau there
