Over the river and through the woods

0 posted 2002-05-01 04:17 PM

On the couch
thinking,
thinking him

craving his wake,
his motion under my eyes

that he listened,
dusting lightly with inquiries
the sandstorm from my mind
until the idea --
simple, single thought:
flashing worry --
was birthed from my mouth
whole and alive:
seen.

warmth:
talking a fire down to embers
‘till I felt worthy and watched

and
sigh
because I’ve never laughed
with abandon,
with total honesty,
down to the soft curve of my belly,
shaking with the trickling giggle
of a tickled child

and, now, I can’t stop...

I feel 16, testing teasing waters,
swallowing my heart back into my chest
when a hand brushes,
when we're snuggled against the loveseat:
the kiss of knees...

and lying here, head to shoulder,
the contrast of skin the front
whirling focus of my mind:
comfortable and thrilled...

the request sometimes places
a toe to my tongue and pulls back:
“can I hold you? just hold you...”

but wait,
because I crave the anticipation...
and how we hang here like a question,
rounded, a lilt to the end,
smiling
and suggesting all the answers

" feel 16, testing teasing waters,
swallowing my heart back into my chest"

AND?

"suggesting the answers"

I have goosebumps...which means of course (serenity looks down) Yep. "They" are up!!! (It's sort of like a quality indicator-- )

I am rushed today, but I am saving this one...yer gorgeous, yanno... (and hey, the new pic? Could it be a rendering by...? )

Megs,
Everything about this poem is fabulous. What a keeper. I love this. Sensual and cozy all in one. What a plan...

It's never too late to have a good childhood! Woohoo!

I'd like to wear this poem like a slowly unravelling blanket. God, that's good stuff.

Very enjoyable Ms. I see the fresh Oregon atmosphere has invigorated you. Your long absence from posting anything demanded a superiour effort and this certainly delivered.

ps. feeling 16 can't be that great a stretch being as you aren't all that far removed from it.---heh
