When we met
You were singing songs of yesterday
And I was flying winds of tomorrow.
We learned it the hard way...
Now is the time to live.

It took struggles and pitfalls
Trials and tears,
But we took each other by the hand
And learned to get past every fear.

Through the storm
And to each other’s love.
We learned to dance on wispy clouds
While softly singing lullabies.

(this really has nothing to do with me. But it was fun)

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)

Not meant to patronise you but i think you have penned some wise thoughts here, especially considering that you are 15...i think i just leant the importance of living in the present one or two years ago...for that reason, i relate very much to your first stanza

When we met
You were singing songs of yesterday
And I was flying winds of tomorrow.
We learned it the hard way...
Now is the time to live.

Alyssa,

I think this is beautiful. Wise and insightful. Walks through differences of two, the work they do to make a relationship work and ends happily!
All in a lovely soft poetic rhythm.

And now then, why is it I've not seen any of your poetry submitted for Reflections?  I did some checking last night and found your poems: Original post: "Black Abyss", "Deeper", and "Not Even A Poet", and many more;

or, you could write a brand new one...

So? Where are they? Perhaps you have and I just didn't see them. Please let me know when you do submit.

Hugs and love, Pat

kaile,
why thank you! I think its something I can write about much better than I can live by. I really am glad you like this

Pat,
thank you! Beautiful wise and insighful? I'm honored. Though like I said before, its something I'm better at saying than living.
and then about Reflections... Me being the age I am I'd have to ask for parental permission if I want to be honest, which I do. At the time my father doesn't even know I write poems, and I don't have a great desire to tell him. SO thats my story, and neat you saw my old posts, I think some of those are my favorite despite that they aren't as well crafted, (not that anything is now, lol)   hugs and love to you!

Eric,
Thank you! I'm glad you find it enlightening   we all need to find the mix of living now, but taking heed to the fact of yesterday and tomorrow.

Stand firm
Always, Alyssa
