Of Love and Death

I cry for each loss,
the finger count beyond mine
of friends, friends of friends, of relatives
known and unknown.

They have crossed my path, or I theirs
awakening that which was lonely,
infecting me with a peace,
in my chaotic world.

I cry today for you, as if
it was for me, all over again.
Words can't ever flow
from my heart to yours, as easily
as I would wish
because the wall is up
and my mind
is too tired to reach and touch
even though I try.

How many good-byes
will we have to endure...
How many stories of yesterdays'

Why do we lose those who
have made us who we are,
sometimes leaving feelings unsaid
until it is too late to be heard.

I plead for a moment's surrender,
to not be consumed in the negative,
but to feel the Hope that is hiding
around the corner, and is waiting for you,
for me, for all of us
who have loved and lost.

M

Maureen, this is beautiful written. I hang on to hope each and everyday. For both, myself and my friends. Even for some who aren't my friends.

I wish to thank all of you
for your responses.

I wrote this for a friend of mine
(a neighbor)who has just lost her mother
and is trying to cope these next few days
with the reality of death.

I know it also represents love lost and so I combined my feelings for both this morning
and posted how I am feeling.

Love and hugs to you always Maureen~

I know Michele, it seems that way. As we get older the days become shorter.

Lori, viewings and funerals are tough. I have been to enough now that I should be able to make it through the day, but some times the coldness gets to you, both in thought and temperature.
