If I were but a violin, I would play a song for you,
A symphony of love divine, is just what I would do,
The opening note as pure and clear, as light at break of dawn,
Heralding love's new beginning; the dark of night's begone,
Then comes a tender melody, gentle on the ear,
Holding hands, a harmless glance, to let you know I'm near,
But then it's time for a hullabaloo, a fiddler's jamboree,
For love is laughter, letting loose, hands slapping on the knee,
The music stops, a whole beat rest, then the song begins anew,
Commencing soft, then rising warmth, finally breaking out in flame,
Crescendoing in pounding beat, to the sound of Rose's name,
Then the music fades as embers glow, to a dirge of sorrow's bane,
Melancholy fills the night, for love is feeling pain,
Last comes the waltz to hold you near, to feel your warm embrace,
To whisper softly in your ear; to gaze upon your grace,
The grand finale, the music grows, all notes play now as one,
In harmony, a symphony, and now my song is done.
If I were but a violin, I would play a song for you,
A masterpiece to my Fairest Rose, to make sweet love to you.

Tim - now this is simply beautiful. I could almost hear the music changing as I read each line. Enjoyed !! Chris

And I would have called this a book submission...
if I had any choice in the matter at all.

I'm enjoying the imagery dancing in my head now, Sir...
You've got me off to a particularly good Monday.

Thank you.

How truly beautiful.  Thanks Tim.  My mother's name is Rose and most all of this poem reminds me of her.

She is one beautiful woman and this is
a wonderful poem.
