Reconsidered

I - Half-Memory

An unknown feeling
Laced with fear and
   misunderstanding
Once distant mistakes of past
The lost and close-by no less
   demanding

A brief instant of mind
Not known to be quite
   as true
Recollected and recalled
As a nightmare that
   only grew

Sit in quaint denial
Don't admit to far
   off fear
Ask for whatever forms as thought
Keep away from hands
   that near

Embrace it as a namesake
Submit all the more
   to hate
Cope alone to cause the pain
Of a memory of
   past fate

II - Personal Rehab

Trust is just an issue
Truth a lying
   notion
Tears don't get us anyplace
So try not to waste
   emotion

Conservation is an option
Not many bother
   to take
It seems easier to shell all out
And beg for
   pity's sake

Draw nearer to the edge
Await what's known
   as last
Don't be afraid of instances
Or subtleties
   from past

Hate the way the world works
Yet do nothing to
   cause change
Despite all of my inner wants
Fears make me stay
   the same

III - Now That It's All Over

Seconds can seem like hours
To those who know
   such states
Time can hold you captive
And all you can do
   is wait

The process may be painful
But life is lived with
   reason
A closure from experience
Won't prevent the coming
   season

My strength is not a visage
Though I hide behind
   a cape
Shield away all of my fears
Down with a secret that
   is rape

Katherine, you know I love this poem, that's why I asked you to post it here.  I'm glad you joined piptalk.

Won't prevent the coming
   season

That's my favourite stanza.  I like your shift from a pessimistic world view into a more optimistic self-correction on the meaning of life.

Nicely written, and I vote this to be in the book.
