I danced with a reason
For living tonite
I was tired
Worked all day
Was trying hard to look forward to it
I came home, opened the door
And God...she was stunning
Just like her mother
And when I told her how
Beautiful she looked
Her shy smile,and the pure
Proud joy,at my simple words
Made my day so small
And me her world and I
Was filled with worth and love

And we danced all night
Clumsy and not caring
In her beautiful gown
With her laughing friends
All angels
And we laughed and did the
Chicken dance,the YMCA
And lined danced like fools
And all of the dads
Forgot to look sheepish
And I glimpsed for an instant
The woman she was becoming
So soon
And I knew,I was the first man
She loved
I will never forget
That night I danced
With an angel

This reminds me of the man who taught me how to dance, my Father who counted the steps, and carved out a time I will never forget.

Thanks for this~

What a wonderful memory you have here, and am so glad that you decided to share it with us.  I never knew my father, but always wanted to share something like this with him.  Your daughter is very lucky that you care, and I hope you show her this one, as it will make her even more proud.

Accept these small gifts from my gypsy soul, and let the magik happen!  ~~S~~

What a wonderful special time with her!

Just one question...
Why is this unforgettable, beautiful piece
not a book submission?
This brought back a flood of memories.
Exquisite beyond compare.

Jason,
Brother, I haven't cried since I was 15 except for a few brief seconds at my father's funeral... this one got me too close for comfort, because I could see and feel my own daughter as I danced with her on my toes when she was a child. This one deserves to be in the book.

My daughter's won't dance with me... said something about a rythimless white man getting electrocuted... or something like that..

OK, so my only problem with this?
the lack of the book submit option....
I'll put it into my private library for safe keeping anyway.
Lucky daughter! Lucky father! Lucky us to be part of this dance!

What good friends I find here, after several suggestions I submitted this.I had hesitated both because this was a new kind of write for me, and because I have 2 other submissions and worried about diluted votes. But when thinking, nothing would make me happier than to give this in print to my daughter( of which I have two ).Thank you friends, I was both delighted and suprised at how this piece was recieved.
