somebody's dungeon

I followed a falling star one night
as it arced across the sky.
I watched it's slow descent to earth
and silently wondered why,
the time had come for it fade,
to give up it's light and die.

I never understood it's death
no answer did come to me.
I watched it's brilliance flicker
then just simply cease to be.
The heavens had now changed
was different now it seemed.

I've come to think upon reflect
that the star was burning bright.
The eons of glow exuberant
had drained it of it's light,
so to earth the star did plummet
in a flaming final flight.

No more to dot the evening sky,
no more to shine upon.
Yet, the glory is remembered,
in mind a star lives on.

There are reasons for everything....even falling stars. Beautiful work, Anne.

Beautiful imagery Anne.  I loved every death defying word of it.  The star still shines indeed.

Much enjoyed. In a fraction of a second we witness the birth of light and its death .... still it lives forever in our memory, yes!

I like. I'm trying to restrain myself from suggesting ways to rephrase a few lines. I would have worded them differently, but it is yours, so I'll withhold those comments unless they are requested.

Eromyna, I appreciate you reading, and am always open to suggestions. But I should tell you ahead of time, I'm stubborn and rarely do a revision.

I've often wondered, myself. I enjoyed the poem.
