The art of Jeffrey K. Bedrick

A gypsy woman searches for a quiet hidden place
A meadow cool, with babbling brook
A tree to shade her face
A place where time exists no more
Where love and hope abound
What she has lost in former times
In that place will be found...

The search could last forever, far beyond this mortal plane
But dreams are what has held her
Also helped to keep her sane
And when the pain of truth cuts deep
So deep she falls apart
A need is borne, to search for peace
to heal her shattered heart...

A gypsy-woman, lost in time, will search her lifetime through
To find the place she knows exists
It's there within mind's view
And as I spin this tale of rhyme
A part of me takes flight
To search the regions of my thoughts
within my darkest nights...

A truly happy person is one who
can enjoy the scenery on a detour!

I'm sorry that I've never read your work before, this really was a treat.  I absolutely love the flow you created, it reads through like a ballad even though you arranged the line breaks differently.  I loved the flow, in fact, I almost got lost in the flow it was so impressive.

The sentiments and feelings just flourish in the closing lines, I love how you brought the story into a personal message towards the end.  I was reading "The Lyrical Ballads" today (I have been reading that a lot lately), and this poem reminds me of the style Wordsworth used to describe various characters and their surroundings, as well as his own response to the story he tells.  You might want to check some of that out, a lot of Wordsworth's stuff is on the netpoets.net main page.  It's quite similar to the style here.

I'm putting this in my private library, and I certainly hope it makes the pages of Reflections.  Excellent choice for submission.

Hello SEA, and thank you so much...I enjoy this particular artist, and it did seem to fit...More of his work is available on the net, and just as enjoyable, too!!

Hello Parasite, and I appreciate your insight here.  It very well could be that Wordsworth has been an influence on my writing, as I studied his work extensively in my school days.  Thank you for honouring this poem in your private library. That means a lot...

Hello BloomingRose, and thank you for reading and leaving such a nice reply!! It's always good to see you here, my friend...

Hello Nancy, and I'm so very glad that you enjoyed the essence of this particular piece. I was hoping that it's feelings would come through, and you helped me realise that it did.  Thank you!

Hello Noah, and you are really the special one, my lil brother!  Your replies light up my screen, and put a smile on my face! Thank you, too...

Hello Albert, and thank you so much! It's also nice to meet another new friend here, and I am sure that we will be sharing many more times together at this poetic table!

Hello Bill, and yes...the gypsy woman lives on, as you well know the saga!  Thank you for stopping by for a nice visit!

Hello lil sis, and you will be the very first to know the location of the peaceful meadow that awaits all gypsy ladies!  Thank you, and keep dreaming, ya hear??

Hi,
I have been gone for a bit, as I do at times.  I love this poem so much.  I like your writing, this is the first poem I choice to read since I sneaked back in here away from real life.
Hugs.
