In a little pink room I found her
Sitting in a light green easy chair
in a rest home called Oak Manor
her eyes held an empty stare

I spoke softly breaking the silence
"I'm pleased to meet you Ella Rose."
but she knew I'd be arrivin
she looked straight at me and spoke

Chorus:
"Never new I had a grandson,
These days I thought, it's over
waitin for the final call to come
waitin to whisper from the clover
If you've come to hear my say
come closer, I'll tell it to you
I'm a faded Rose with a yesterday
Let me tell you bout Rosebud's blues"

Said her Momma'd named her Rosebud
for her country singing career
but she'd passed on, dreams undone
and then my Grandpa appeared

A girl all alone in Nashville
can fall in love to save her soul
but he left her with unpaid bills
and a son to raise all alone

Chorus:
"Never new I had a grandson,
These days I thought, it's over
waitin for the final call to come
waitin to whisper from the clover
If you've come to hear my say
come closer, I'll tell it to you
I'm a faded Rose with a yesterday
Let me tell you bout Rosebud's blues"

Bridge:
I held her hand for a long time
She said "don't blame that son of mine
Like his Daddy he never used his heart"
I couldn't believe she could be so kind
and in the closure I came apart

Chorus:
"Never new I had a grandson,
These days I thought, it's over
waitin for the final call to come
waitin to whisper from the clover
If you've come to hear my say
come closer, I'll tell it to you
I'm a faded Rose with a yesterday
Let me tell you bout Rosebud's blues"

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

(smiles) Though I could imagine this being a country hit, I heard this actually as a rockier song that I knew if it got to rafio would be an airpower! (big hugggssssss) This is a powerfully told story, sweet friend, is it related on real experiences, this is powerfully poignant, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
