War is hell,
you don't really
want it, son.
But if you're in it-
you better fight
with all you got,
and then some.
The only thing worse
than fighting a war
is losing one.

They say the reason a soldier fights so hard is a fear of failure or a fear of being considered a coward...and of course they want to be there for there friends that are fighting beside them.  I hope that the war doesn't happen...James

EA, Ethel, James and Bill, Thanks. I wrote a big long reply and then deleted it. The poem says what I wanted to say.

(big hugggsssssss) I'd say I partially agree with this, sweet friend, the answer all depends on whom you are fighting for. There are many I know who don't want this war and didn't want to fight in war and don't want to fight this war because of Bush! (sad sigh) A proposed war like this is ridiculous and certainly shouldn't be inevitable either, this is well-said, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Nancy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yep!
But, then, don't we all lose in war?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Everyone loses something in a war, but if you're in a war and don't fight back, you lose everything.

Nan,

This is a completely, perfect poem. Not one word too many or too few.

Love it!
