Beneath the northern stars

You’re lost and so alone
I can see it in your eyes
You try not to let me in on them
But still I hear your silent cries.
I know what you’re going through
I know it as well as I know my own name.
When everything comes crashing down around you
Who’s gonna be the one to take the blame?
I reached out my hand to you
But you turned to look away
Acting as though you hadn’t seen
You’ll “make it better” another day.
Just don’t let anyone get to you
Live for yourself and don’t forget who you are.
You try to be everything for everyone you know
Believe me, you won’t get very far.
You don’t need to figure it all out at once
Let each day bring something new
Something that doesn’t seem to mean much
Could someday be a valuable lesson to you.
I remember when I had my days
When I couldn’t seem to find a place to belong
I didn’t know who I was or what I ought to do
Everything always felt so wrong.
So now, later on in my life, here I am
Remembering those days from my past
Watching you go through everything that I did
And wondering how long it will last.
Take life one day at a time
Learn to let a thing or two be
And if you still can’t get anything straight
Don’t forget, you’ll still have me.

Elizabeth

It is virtually impossible to do right by everyone, by no fault of our own I might add.
What a straight forward heartfelt message that speaks volumes.

Enjoyed your thoughts so much.
~Thanks~

Elizabeth,

Very insightful and as I remember no one could have told me these things for we each need to figure them out on our own. I liked very much the silent support here and the real wisdom of one day at a time.

I think the hardest part of lessons learned is learning when and how to share them with others.

I liked this very much. Lots of compassion and empathy.

Hugs, Pat

Thank you! I agree that these issues are what people need to figure out on there own. I do hope, however, that my words here would help point someone to that direction. Thanks everybody, I'm glad you that it made you think and that you liked it!

I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I have heard these words before.  Although sometimes these words mean everything - they are too easily forgotten.

Thanks
