At the break of dawn
lying in bed sleeping
I was awakened by loud roars over
roof of house
Almost as if making house
tremble

With military bases all around
where I live
aiplanes are everywhere at times
but now I wonder
IS IT WAR?

Then I thought of all the men
and women in the military
waiting, listening, hearing every
different sound
and wondering
IS IT WAR?

Then there are the children in
those other countries
hearing strange
loud noises
and wondering
IS
IT
WAR
??

Ethel--The same thing happened to me the other night with a very loud low flying plane..a product of a frightening time, I think.

I lived near enough Vandenburg AFB that we were constantly running out the door in the 60's to see the missles reach heavenward...the rumble was just different enough we knew it was not an earthquake...

Later, in the early 70's, I moved to Illinois.  We were out in the "country" [small town] one winter weekend, playing cards at the in-laws home...when I heard the "rumble" coming.  Wideeyed [and very naive] I said, "I didn't know there was a military base close by..." and received the strangest looks from the in-laws.  It was a train rolling by on tracks....

No...it's all just preparation....and readiness.  Thanks for the read, Ethel...

I'm so jumpy these days, I've turned off my "message alert"---

sheesh...

and I live by an Air Force base too.

and yes, I shudder when they are "maneuvering"...I shiver with ya.

Ethel,

No it is insanity at it's finest.

Unfortunately, there is no other way to fight that.

I understand your fear and compassion for those intimately involved. The bombed and the bombers. And, the innocent victims, which include those two groups. I think.

It is a sad world we live in. That rational, diplomatic  conversation
can't reverse it, is proof of the insanity and perverted power struggle some in authority have, especially when ultimately, I believe, it is, or will be,  religious in nature.  I am not speaking about the president of our United States, re: power struggle.

Dealing with people who've no conscience; psychopaths, sociopaths, who use their own countrymen as guinea pigs to test experimetal, biological weapons, and promote suicidal human bombs require more than waiting to see if they'll disarm, or, just what they'll do, next.

Heart hugs to you, Pat

(big hugggssssss) Insanity is all it is, I seriously hope people realize this isn't a war, just a silly skermish of epic proportions that can kill thousands unless this idea is dropped! (sad sigh) I hate to be pessimistic to my own nation but I must say I have lost confidence in Bush and feel it is either time he steps down from power or shifts gears immediately and falls in line with the people, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

No sane person wants war, but let's face it, we're not dealing with a sane person, but a very evil one.  So many lives could be spared if he would just swallow his pride and go into exile.

And by the way, I live near a base and both hear those roars and see the many planes each day.  Nice work, Ethel!

the morning star, still kiss the dawn

War is lack of communication and accountability. It's greed and switching bed partners when it best suits ones own needs. Remember we experiment on humans as well and are the only nation to have ever nuked someone.......War is hell, it's advocates do the devils work.

I find myself doing the same thing. I don't take for granted the sounds I hear anymore. I live in Jax Fl and right by the airport. I see jets flying overhead...often now.
Sad and scary world for sure!

A great write on a subject close to all our hearts.  KJ
