It's peaceful here
when you are not.
I wonder if your eyes
read this--
tonight I'm hoping that they will
double vision standing still
planting seed's lucidity.
I want to cry
that it's unfair
I'm always left here
on the edge
but perhaps
you've favored me
by stealing romance
from the bite
razor burning
turn of cheek--
this flip of finger
we call life...

I cringe in headlights
in the dark
cars make the turn
just past our house
I'm wondering if that is you,
did he turn around on whim?
deciding you were bored enough
to fight another round?
Placing bets within my mind
will he hit the house again?
another car is passing now
I sit here silent in the dark
as though if I am very still
you just might forget me yet.

If you can read this?
Don't come home.
I won't fight you.
Not tonight.

If you can read this?
You've been healed,
for when you left
you stumbled blind.
Now I sit in guilty dark
afraid that someday
you will spill
blood
by wheel of Daddy's car,
and someone else
more innocent
than I
will be the next roadkill.

I shudder as I rub my head--
I do not know a prayer for this...

Oh no. This isn't sounding so good Karen. My heartbeat reaches out to comfort you. May he come home safely, and your morning be peaceful.

Karen,
But it sounds like prayers are needed. Courage dear friend. Excellent write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

You are in good hands with brother Larry. We will sit up all night with you if that's what it takes.

Very good.. But so very sad.. My heart is all tore up.

Anyone can write, But only poets can capture the heart.

Vivid, fearful angst. It's a Zen thing to freeze like a deer and hope it goes away.......sometimes it does.
