Among hues of auburn
lying apathetic before her
There she stood

Proud and mystic

Glimpsing to the West
the Evergreen
greets the twilight with sadness
As the dying sun sets
upon her beauty
for
one
last
time

She is greeted by Autumn
as the fierce wind attacks
Attempting to budge her precious limbs

Its futile attempts
only cause the leaves to stir
and they respond with animosity

Yet, the wind continues!

Tearing away limbs
from the mighty Oak, The Elm, The Maple

The trees cry out dissent
towards the evergreen
While the wind whistles
throughout the rustic terrain

For all to hear and judge . . .

And she silently wonders
why she has been placed
within the company
of
so
many
enemies

(This is more a story of sorts . . . the coming of winter and a fresh start . . .)
