The Blues of Blue Grass

I just love the blues of blue grass
It’s the spirit out of soul
It’s the rhythm of the mountains
And the rock of rock ‘n roll

It’s the blue of country lyrics
Mixed with strings of mandolin
Playing harmonies of memories
Of a love that could have been

But nobody here can tell me
Where the blue grass got its sound
Some say down in old Kentucky
Where some banjos gathered round

A guitar that strummed the rhythms
From the gospel hymns of old
And the music they call blue grass
Seeped into the American soul

I just love the blues of blue grass
I love banjo plucking strings
They are faster than a heartbeat
And the speed of eagle wings

They’re the heartstrings of the southland
They’re the spirit out of soul
They’re the rhythm of the mountains
And the rock of rock ‘n roll

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh my gosh, I love bluegrass, it is soothing to my heart when I listen to it, in fact, that is one instrument I want to blend into my music if I become known, as well as many Latin instruments, though the acoustic guitar is my main instrument! (big hugggssssss) I love this, sweet friend, yay, take me back to Dixieland, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hi Liz, even though Blue Grass isn't my favorite kind of music (soft rock is) I sure did like your poem about it.

Hugs,

Ole Bill Monroe, Kentucky born,
Created this great sound.
Along with his two brothers
They got bluegrass off the ground.

Bill formed a band to play this style
In 1938.
Though they were named The Kentuckians
They began in the Georgia state.

Bill sang lead with mandolin
Banjos for Flatt and Scruggs.
Those boys were high on bluegrass
And I ain't taking drugs!!

So that's how that great style began
So many years ago.
A young kid with a brand new sound..
Kentuckian Bill Monroe!!

Speaking of syles, Liz, I love YOURS!!!

THank you Noah! One more aspect of your many talents. What a great photo! And thank you for the poem, Balladeer.I knew of BIll Monroe and that they started up somewhere in the south, but didn't know it was in Georgia. What an influence they have had on popular music of many genres. Thank you all for your kind remarks. THanks again, Noah for your input.

Smiling here... Did you know that Ron's parents were "Blue Grass Junkies"?... We need to make sure he sees this... Very nicely done, Lizzy...

Didn't know that, Nan
My father played the banjo in his younger days and my mother played the mandolin
Glad you liked this

This is terrific!
I had blue grass music playing in my mind as I read.
Wonderful Elizabeth!
