Farmers a toiling and children at play,
Stop for a respite in heat of the day,
Drink of its sweetness, quenchings to quell,
Cool is the water drawn deep from the well.

Lovers not loving and families apart,
Deep is the dagger that strikes in the heart,
Seeking out solace, another day done,
Gone is the warming of afternoon's sun.

Seedlings are planted, commencing to grow,
Reaching for heaven in warmth of sun's glow,
Roots finger downward, down into rich loam,
Farmers and children, returning to home.

Drink of its sweetness, quenchings to quell,
Cool is the water drawn deep from the well.

this is beautiful!
I had to read it twice, once for the brilliant and smooth rhyme, and again for the fantastic, deep, content!
I can see the scene and its true and, wow, this is good!

Always, Alyssa

I echo the above comment somewhat I always tend to read yours aloud first for the rhyme and then slowly to savor the words.  I too hope you will put something into Reflections as it would be very nice to see your poetry in the book.  Great poem.
