A Tribute to Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss was Theo LeSeig
he had a great imagination.
He used lots of silly words
in his poetical creations.

Like Wumpus and Cubbins,
Heffelump and Horton,
Barthalomew and Grinch
The Cat in the Hat and Morton.

There may be 500 hats;
there may be a trillion bats,
but one thing's for sure
the rhyming is pure.

Even if he had to make up
words from another land
they would rhyme quite playfully
yet be hard to understand.

There may be red fish
and animals with many feet;
there may be a duck-chilled rattapus
that only eats red beets.

So if you run into
a Seuss book on noses,
expect them to run
and smell a lot like roses.

Yes, reading Seuss
is a wonderful pasttime
lots of silly, silly words,
lots of luscious, crazy rhyme.

I loved reading Dr. Suess books when I was little. My favorite one was "Horton Hears A Who". Great poem.

...and just think, his first manuscript was rejected 28 times! Just goes to showya, persistence pays off! He now even has a world renowned poetess, Virginia Salter, writing a witty and wonderful tribute poem about him! Who woulda thunk it?

I really enjoyed this!!! It was a totally delightful read!

Warm hugs,

Virginia, I liked reading Dr. Suess to my daughter when she was little. I think I may have liked them as much, if not more, than she did...LOL
I loved this poem. It's really cute...

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh my gosh, I love Dr. Seuss, sweet friend, he truly was a genius, I am serious, and ever since I was a little boy I have admired his poetry and illustrations and most of all, his creative mind and inventive style! (big hugggsssss) I still read his books, he will always be medicine to the heart, even to doctors, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

A wonderful write. It brought back memories of reading the Good Doctor to my kids... And they always wanted to hear about the ever popular puddle paddle battle, and they always wanted it to be read faster... Kids can be such sadists!!!! lol
I thoroughly enjoyed this.

History always seems to be about people who do great evil; poetry on the other hand can be about those who do great good.
