Something Is Missing

I stepped out into it, the coldness
that has dragged me down before.
I noticed the turnaround, with you
at one spot, no voice to me,
and him at another, wishing, perhaps
to reach out and get off the merry-go-round
but not knowing how to make it slow down enough.

I would join, but have been there before,
on that spin, and the excitement, was too much.
I ended up with vertigo and the instability
that I am not wanting to equal.

Too many faceless yous, too few of me,
not time enough to trace the outlines anymore,
no memories in want of dredging up.

This could have been the best hello ever offered,
instead it will be the saddest of good-byes.
My words seem shallow, but my voice has heart,
something that is missing in you.

i tried to pick out a line or two.. but reread and decided it flows to well together. i like it all...

choosing to make our own ride - and knowing when enough is enough...
