Orphan of Love

It's hard being me with the imprints of you
following in my shadow.
When I turn to touch you and you are
unreachable, I feel tortured
by the memories of your eyes last steal,
your kiss of the moment being too short
for my need, as I isolate each frame of you
into my night's collective dreams.

I pause you where I like, placing you in the fate
of my mind, so that your darkness
wraps around the frail of me
and I find comfort in the silence
of kissing eyes.
Did you know I dream your colors,
deep shades of you
to keep the nights promises
from drifting away?
Did you know I have conditioned myself
to a ritual of you never leaving my side,
being imprisoned by love
throughout the seasons of change?

You are a maze to me, as I search the right path
to reach your heart, and capture it
to share a warm moment in time,
when you give your heart to me in trust
and the forgotten one, is forgotten, no more.

I bend over backwards, to see yesterday,
wishing it to be tomorrow instead.
There's a glitch in my being,
a hitch in my stride. As I age
and face the not-so-perfect,
I wish for the taming of my heart,
the kidnapping of my soul, the intent
of another to revolutionize my being,
to confess what lies beneath.

You have abandoned my feelings,
left them trapped in the arms of time,
echoing in silent sadness, pieces of me
scattered here and there,
in poetic phrasings.
So I torture myself, an orphan of love,
burdened by loss, never quite there,
always second guessing
why I have been molded into loving you.
M

nakdthoughts - your thoughts are from your warm heart, your words are from a soft pen, and your muse has been blessed...

I wish I could give you a big hug right now.
It's still very poetic, the way you wrote this.  Love ya Maureen.

I love your poetry and especially this poem.  It almost makes me want to cry.  Love the part about the maze and definitely the last stanza.
