Before the bleed of Eden, pre the fall,
prenatal seed of weed, they had it all,
a week's vacation lolling by a lake
pre-varication, pre-temping fruit of snake,
precursor to the curse'd coil's clarion call.

A damn'd Adam aided by a dame
(though robbed and rent of rib to sate this aim)
pleasured pastoral passion's guiltless flame
fore asp aspered, assigning this act shame
(the only true joy we're left from they're acclaim.

The evil viper, vile ventriloquist
through vine'd veg'table vain Eve's ear pssssst,
seducing she (and he) to sire sin,
reducing ye (and me) to clothe our skin
would that t'were cucumbers instead her shopping list.

Ancient apple from adder's arboretum,
bit of bite birthed earth hell ad infinitum,
rule of repugnance, root of rot,
lives once abundant, thenceforth were not,
wish now that God had then St. Paul to referee'um.

Now that is the funniest version of Adam and Eve I think I have ever read, if I ever even read one!  Absolutely hilarious but I bet you didn't start this poem out that way.  Great work Richard. (the latin was a cool touch) and your cadence as usual sublime.

I don't have enough gray cells to come up with things like this...so I'll leave it to the pros and just cheer from the sidelines...

I dont know which is more impressive...the clever wit and intelligence of this piece...or the alliterations and language.
As always...the angle and source of your muse is fascinating.
