Hello all.I know I've been away for a long time, but alot has been happening here and I haven't been writing or doing much of anything.I finally decided it was time to work through all of this and this is what I came up with. This is not for sympathy or regret but for personal gain on my part.Any comments or crticism is accepted.
One day I was brought into this world.
My parents thought I was a precious little girl.
As the years seemed to pass on.
It seemed as if something had gone wrong.
For my parents would fight day after day.
And argue in the most terrible way.
Then the day came when my father left.
And didn't look back, not even a regret.
My mom tried to raise us the best that she could.
But so many times, she never understood.
From such a young age, I had to be grown.
And learn all of the things, I was expected to know.
I raised my two brothers as if they were my own.
I took care of the scholwork, the clothes, and the home.
Then there were the men in my mother's life.
Causing so many problems and so much strife.
She didn't know how I laid in my room each night.
Trying so hard, the tears it seemed I couldn't fight.
I became a woman at the age of eight.
My heart filled with so much anger and so much hate.
My childhood thrown out the backdoor.
For I didn't need it, I had so much to care for.
My brother's became my life to live for.
Because it seemed as if there were nothing more.

We don't get a second chance at childhood ... we need to see that it's never taken away from our children
~
so very sad to hear of this
Perhaps you can regain some completeness through helping others ... like being a big sister or something

I think you've taken the first steps to recovery - talking about what happened. But you should find a group where you can talk about this issue. And keep writing. You seem to have a lot of inner strength that shines in your writing! And welcome home, it's nice to have you back.

I should say a lot has been happening, and a resurgence of growth through reflection seems to be one of them...

I understand this very clearly, peaches...

I am glad you are back.  If nothing else, poetry is a wonderful way to find healing within one's self...there seems to be an endless store of bandaids from blank pages just waiting to receive your penlines...

and dear? Thank you for the lovely compliment you left me...

now go write some more for me to read...

Rex:You always know just what to say.I'm making sure this doesn't happen with my children and any other child I may help. It's also healing to me.

Poet deVine:Thanks so much for the support.Sorry to say there are no groups even close to here.I've looked everywhere.I'm very glad to be back where I belong amongst friends.

Sy:Thank you so much for your support. It means alot.I will soon be rid of this darkness that has seemed to evade me to date but will rise above and find my light.

peaches73533 - You've been through a lot as I've read in your writing. But hang in there and keep writing it out. It helps, for it has helped me...

Young Lady...and I put a lot of emphasis on
the word Lady....For you are very brave,
very courageous...and growing so much...

Don't stop....I lived that life...having to
grow up early...for slightly different
reasons...but the same results...

However...that was then...this is now...and
you should continue to grow...and begin to
understand that all of them...had their own
life stories too...which affected their own
lives...and how they dealt with their
problems....Unfortunately...children are
often in the middle of the equation...and
they lose the most...

Keep going dear one...Don't stop...

Yep, I can relate to some of this. I’ve had a total of 5 mothers and step mothers, 4 fathers and step fathers, and 8 step brothers and sisters. Though, I must admit it never bothered me too much…just more family to love me. I wish it had been happier for you though. Keep writing and get those feelings out, it can make it easier to deal with, and look objectively on the past.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
