"Various lanes closed ahead"
Take the service road instead

"Food" "Gas" "Lodging"
What life have we been dodging?

The speed limit
is the biggest gimick
Did you know
that its suggested
Why I wonder if its been tested?

The loop around the city
Strangles it in pity
For every exit there leads out
And still we spiral inward
Into its gorging center

The cracks in the asphalt
are veins about to burst
Hands that grab from tail pipes
change Buick into Hearse

The signs are green
the grass is yellow
and death haunts me near
to tiny poisoned
molecules
that stalk the atmosphere

Cones guide me in and out
from four lanes down to one
and all the IV’s in the dash
pump music from my lungs

The bullet to my head
a Honda of late model
and what they found in killers heart?
triggered in a bottle

But that’s not why I drive
I drive to arrive
to take myself to school and back
and buy groceries once a week

The road is full of question
yet its open and surreal
guides us with two railings set
and blinds us by the wheel

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Walter, I too know just how you feel, my mom always tells e that driving is fun and driving is freedom, but I strongly disagree with that, but I only drive because I feel it is important and the best way to get from here to there, while otherwise we are always putting ourselves against so much more and there is no freedo really! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is a very powerful write, I love it! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Walter, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
