in a world torn by change
there is always that one constant
that one thing, feeling, or person that always remains

as a thing
it can be something simple
a word,
        a picture,
                   a flower,
                   a song,
        a candle,
a key
(a key to what? you ask. . . just a key)

as a feeling
it can be a little more complex
a look,
        a touch,
                   a whisper,
                   a dance,
        a beat,
a tear
     (a tear is a feeling? a feeling. . . untold)

as a person
it can be impossible to describe
a parent,
        a spouse,
                   a child,
                   a lover,
        a teacher,
a poet
(are poets people? perhaps they are. . . just poets)

the constant is always
unchanging, as before as it is now
as it will be as it was

it is all around us
it is the sky,
              the earth,
                        the air,
              the water,
is is the fire

it is a god,
              a goddess,
                        a priest,
              a priestess,
is is the God
it is all around us

and we are a part of it
our lives are part of the constant
the one thing that brings people together
              that pulls them apart
that gives them strength
that makes them weak
brings light, brings dark,
brings joy, brings pain

the constant

that is

love

that is

the constant

Love is the one thing that makes the world go around, yes, this is great.

Geesh - what would a teacher who's a poet be??.. Not a person for sure.. My class would never buy that..

Nicely done, Sven..

You know, Sven Pen. If we're ever in doubt, there are poets like you to remind us all. This is written with your usual brilliant style. I love it!

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

Sven, this makes me want a cup of Constant Tea, which always reminds me of the scent of orange trees, and the feel of peeling a big juicy orange. I think I should go eat some breakfast now.  I really enjoyed this one. Love really is the essence of constancy.
